About the team and the role:

Gloucestershire Employment and Skills Hub has been created to provide a central source of information and support for residents and businesses. The aim is to help residents access learning and work opportunities, as well help employers get the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles. We are a team of dedicated professionals who thrive on helping people to achieve their learning and employment aspirations.

In 2025 Gloucestershire County Council will commence delivery of the new Connect to Work programme. The role of an Employment Specialist is to provide advice, guidance and 1:1 support for people with disabilities and/or health issues who require support to move into employment.

About You:

  • You will have experience of working with people with disabilities and/or health issues and focus on moving closer to employment and achieving outcomes.
  • Your communication skills will provide you with the ability to develop a range of close links with partnerships; including other GCC teams, welfare to work providers and employers; with the aim of increasing skills base, knowledge and the opportunities available.
  • Experience of working with a fidelity model eg: supported employment or Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
  • You must be customer focussed and ideally have knowledge of employment policies, procedures and welfare services; including the ability to develop your understanding of local labour-market demographics; enabling you to work with local employers to match their needs to the abilities of individuals.
