About the role

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic person to work at the heart of Council decision-making and elections as a Democratic and Electoral Service Officer. This post involves an interesting range of work, including responsibility for servicing committees of the Council working with senior elected Members on a regular basis. You will also be involved in administering the electoral register and handling customer enquiries customer enquiries and play a key role in the administration a variety of elections.

What we need from you

To be successful, you must have good communication skills, be capable of working under pressure with minimum supervision, be able to work effectively in a team and demonstrate a commitment to flexibility. A high standard of IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. Knowledge of the committee management and/or elections management software is desirable, but training will be provided.

Applicants must be able to undertake evening work on a semi-regular basis and at peak times and provide their own transport. This is a flexible role involving a combination of remote and office based working.

Experience of working in Democratic and Electoral Services is not essential, as professional training will be provided in this career graded post. Appointment within the career grade will be dependent on experience and level of training already undertaken.
