About the role

Gloucester City Council owns and operates a very diverse commercial portfolio consisting of community centres, retail parks, open spaces, shopping centres, scheduled monuments, cultural buildings including the City Museum and Guildhall, the newly developed Forum estate, and some of the county\’s most interesting Grade I and II listed buildings. The property portfolio underpins everything we do here at the council, supporting every department by ensuring the portfolio is fit for purpose and managed to a high standard. As part of the Asset Management team, you will also play a role in the council\’s corporate health and safety functions.

Your responsibilities

  • Conducting estate surveys and evaluations
  • Understanding when specialist contractors need to be employed and overseeing those operations
  • Leasing will play a large part of the role
  • Negotiating leases and tenancy agreements, including renewals and new tenancies
  • Experience of retail property transactions and service charge management would be advantageous
  • Ensuring compliance with property regulations
  • Handling all aspects of Landlord and Tenant work
  • Understanding of local authority property regulations
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or professional surveying qualification
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
