The role is to cover all aspects of business administration in a sales and production office covering data entry, customer services, sales, production planning and material purchasing.

Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm with a 1‑hour lunch break. 35 hours per week. Duration: 2 years.

Most of the apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Order processing.
  • Skilled use of multiple IT packages (e.g., MS Office) to write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data.
  • Producing accurate records and documents, including emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals; making recommendations for improvements and presenting solutions to management; drafting correspondence, writing reports, reviewing others' work; maintaining records and files; handling confidential information in compliance with procedures; coaching others in required processes.
  • Exercising proactivity and good judgement; making effective decisions based on sound reasoning; dealing with challenges in a mature way; seeking advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships within the team and across the organization; demonstrating ability to influence and challenge appropriately; becoming a role model to peers and team members; developing coaching skills as area knowledge increases.
  • Demonstrating good communication skills in face‑to‑face, telephone, written and digital platforms; using the most appropriate channels; carrying authority appropriately; understanding and applying social media solutions; answering questions from inside and outside the organization, representing the organization or department.
  • Completing tasks to a high standard; demonstrating the necessary level of expertise; applying themselves to continuously improve their work; reviewing processes autonomously and making suggestions for improvements; sharing administrative best practice across the organization; applying problem‑solving skills to resolve complex complaints; serving as a key point of contact for addressing issues.
  • Taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, managing priorities and time to meet deadlines; positively managing expectations of colleagues at all levels; setting a positive example; making suggestions for improvements to working practice; understanding implications beyond the immediate environment; managing resources such as equipment or facilities; organizing meetings and events, taking minutes and creating action logs; managing logistics such as travel and accommodation.
