Employment Mentors support students moving into Supported Internships by coordinating personalised placements and helping remove barriers to learning and employment. You'll work closely with learners, families, employers and external agencies to ensure each intern feels supported, informed and ready for their next steps. This role involves sharing regular updates on each intern's progress and helping ensure their support plans are followed in the workplace. You'll work closely with the SEND Employability and Inclusion Coordinator to plan next steps for interns who need additional guidance. The job includes meeting with parents and carers, keeping accurate daily records and taking part in reviews with employers and external agencies. You'll also help identify interns who are ready for employment and support the assessment of future applicants. Accurate paperwork, destination tracking and contributing to the College's retention work are all key parts of this role.
About You
- Experience of working with young people in post 16 education, training or other relevant environments.
- Experience of working with people with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or barriers to learning and supporting them into employment.
- GCSE English and mathematics (or equivalent) at grade C or above already achieved.
- Proven IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Experience helping people move towards or into employment.
