What We Need From You
We are seeking to appoint a self‑motivated and enthusiastic individual to become part of the Bereavement Services Grounds maintenance team assisting in the day‑to‑day running of the Cemetery.
- Maintain the grounds to a high standard, operate machinery, mowing, hedge trimming, edging cultivation, manuring and site preparation of beds, shrubs, sweeping, hoeing, cleaning leaves and litter and other duties relevant to the Cemetery and Crematorium gardens.
- Prepare graves for burials, ensuring that excavated soil is covered up, placing out boards, matting and logs.
- Excavate graves both manually and mechanically, observing prescribed health and safety practices, using shoring at all times, covering immediately after completion.
- Deal with bereaved families on a daily basis, demonstrating a high level of empathy and good communication and customer‑care skills.
Qualifications
- Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and able to work independently as well as part of a small team.
- Experience or willingness to operate machinery and maintain grounds.
- Strong empathy, good communication and customer‑care skills.
- Fluent in spoken English (required under the Immigration Act 2016).
- Right to work in the UK for at least six months.
