  • Week 1, 35.5hrs, week 2, 42hrs (which includes 4hrs admin)
  • £17.00 per hour plus £1.00 per hour at weekends

About The Role

Magdalen House is a CQC-regulated residential care home providing high-quality care and support for older people.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead our catering service and ensure residents receive nutritious, delicious, and varied meals that meet their individual needs and preferences.

As Chef Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the kitchen department, leading our catering team and ensuring the provision of high-quality meals and refreshments for residents.

You will play a vital role in supporting residents’ health, nutrition, and overall wellbeing.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the delivery of nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals.
  • Develop seasonal menus that reflect residents’ preferences, dietary requirements, and nutritional needs.
  • Manage special diets, including texture-modified meals, diabetic diets, allergies, and cultural requirements.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health and safety, infection prevention, and SFBB regulations.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Manage kitchen budgets, stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.
  • Minimise food waste while maintaining high standards of service.
  • Work closely with care and nursing teams to support residents with changing nutritional needs.
  • Participate in resident meetings and gather feedback to continuously improve the dining experience.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards and company policies.
