We are looking for an ambitious and detail-driven Financial Controller to lead our Financial Control function and help shape the next chapter of our growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, high-performing finance environment built on strong processes, modern systems, and a capable team. Based out of our Harrogate (North Yorkshire) office, you will work as part of our wider Finance department. This role is ideal for a Finance Manager or experienced Management Accountant ready to step up, or an existing Financial Controller seeking a broader leadership remit.
You will lead our Financial Control team, own core finance operations, uphold financial governance and controls, and continuously drive efficiency through our modern tech stack. The Finance function operates with clear accountability between Financial Control and FP&A, working closely with the Head of Commercial Finance to deliver both operational excellence and commercial insight.

What You Will Do:
- Own the delivery of accurate management and statutory accounts
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Oversee multi-entity reporting and consolidation
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, HMRC requirements, and internal policies
- Act as primary contact for external auditors and manage the audit process
- Strengthen financial controls across all core finance processes through robust internal control frameworks, balance sheet reviews, and reconciliations
- Ensure full compliance by overseeing VAT, tax, and duty submissions, proactively identifying risks, and implementing practical, scalable improvements
- Lead day-to-day finance operations (AP, AR, GL, bank, systems)
- Lead and develop a high-performing Financial Control team
- Manage cashflow, treasury activity, and multi-currency banking
- Maintain strong internal controls and drive process improvement
- Act as key liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and financial partners
- Leverage our finance tech stack: Sage X3 ERP, DocuWare, Expensify, PayCaptain, AI etc.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, ICAEW)
- Experience at Finance Manager / Management Accountant level, or existing Financial Controller in a similar-sized organisation
- Demonstrated readiness to step into a Financial Controller role
- Experience across core finance operations (AP/AR, payroll, month-end, reconciliations)
- Exposure to multi-entity and/or multi-currency environments, including consolidation
- Previous experience managing or mentoring team members, with appetite to lead a larger team
- Strong systems capability, ideally including ERP (Sage X3 desirable)
- Experience working in a well-controlled, system-enabled finance environment, with focus on optimisation
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- High attention to detail with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- Confident communicator with ability to work cross-functionally
