Overview

Our client, a leading European Investment Banking institution, is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Services Manager to lead the next phase of its enterprise technology transformation.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity focused on modernising infrastructure services, accelerating cloud adoption, and scaling a high-performing engineering function across a complex, international banking environment.

The organisation is currently undertaking several large-scale transformation programmes, including multiple on-premise datacentre migrations to AWS and Azure, modernization of critical banking and trading platforms, and the development of a cloud-first operating model.

The successful candidate will play a key role in defining the infrastructure roadmap while ensuring resilience, security, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the technology estate.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise infrastructure and cloud strategy across a European technology landscape.
  • Drive large-scale cloud migration, modernization, and transformation programmes, including the migration of legacy and on-premise platforms to AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Define and own cloud architecture, governance, standards, and operational models across multi-cloud environments.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap supporting infrastructure modernization, automation, scalability, and service reliability.
  • Partner closely with application, platform engineering, security, architecture, and business stakeholders to support ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
  • Build, mentor, and scale infrastructure, cloud, and platform engineering teams to support significant business growth.
  • Establish best practices around Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), automation, CI/CD integration, cloud networking, and operational resilience.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, cybersecurity, identity management, and operational risk frameworks expected within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Drive modernization of workplace technologies, collaboration platforms, and end-user services across multiple European locations.
  • Manage strategic relationships with cloud providers, technology vendors, and managed service partners.
  • Provide senior-level stakeholder engagement and regular reporting to technology leadership and executive committees.

Required experience

  • Extensive experience leading enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering functions within banking, financial services, fintech, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Proven track record delivering complex AWS and Azure migration programmes from on-premise environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, identity management, disaster recovery, and high-availability environments.
  • Experience operating within large-scale, mission-critical infrastructures supporting front-office, trading, or business-critical banking platforms.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, virtualization, storage, and enterprise networking.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and modern operational practices.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including growing engineering teams, developing managers, and building high-performance cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across technology and business functions.
