Overview
As Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations you will be accountable for the reliability, scalability, and effectiveness of the organisation's technology infrastructure, supporting internal operations, engineering teams, and customer‑facing platforms. This is a senior leadership role combining technical ownership, organisational strategy, and cultural stewardship. You will define direction, remove complexity, and ensure infrastructure enables innovation, not friction. You'll be working for one of our key clients in the banking space.
Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve a cross‑functional organisation covering IT operations, infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud and EUC.
- Own service levels, availability, and resilience across business‑critical platforms.
- Oversee cloud‑first infrastructure while remaining accountable for physical environments and EUC where applicable.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational maturity.
- Champion modern tooling and architectural patterns that reduce cognitive load and increase engineering autonomy.
- Set and execute the long‑term IT infrastructure and operations strategy.
- Drive buy‑vs‑build decisions with strong commercial and technical judgement.
- Manage supplier relationships and third‑party dependencies strategically.
- Ensure effective disaster recovery, business continuity, and system uptime.
- Own cost efficiency initiatives across cloud, vendors, and internal delivery.
- Partner closely with product, engineering, and security leaders to shape enterprise architecture.
