We're looking for an experienced and commercially focused Finance Director to join our Executive Leadership Team and help drive the next phase of international growth, operational excellence and business performance.
Overview
The Finance Director is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading the financial strategy, governance and commercial performance of a leading healthcare recruitment and workforce solutions group with operations in the UK, outsourced support functions in India and an expanding recruitment presence in Australia.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Director will provide both strategic and hands-on financial leadership to support profitable growth, operational excellence and international expansion.
The role encompasses financial control, corporate reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, compliance, risk management and business performance, while providing commercial insight and challenge to support decision-making across the business.
Working closely with the Board and senior leadership team, the Finance Director will help shape the future direction of the Group, ensuring strong financial performance, effective governance and robust oversight of international operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial strategy, planning and performance of the Group, supporting sustainable growth and profitability.
- Partner with the MD, Board and Leadership Team on strategic decision-making, business planning and risk management.
- Provide commercial insight, financial modelling and analysis to support growth initiatives, international expansion and potential acquisitions.
- Maintain overall responsibility for financial management and control, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and business performance.
- Optimise working capital, debtor management, funding and liquidity across the Group.
- Deliver meaningful, timely and accurate management information, KPIs and Board reporting on financial performance, risk and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, audit and regulatory requirements across the Group.
- Develop and maintain robust financial systems, controls, policies and governance frameworks.
- Manage treasury activities, banking relationships and external funding arrangements.
- Lead relationships with external auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional advisers.
- Lead, develop and manage the finance function, whilst partnering with operational leaders to drive accountability, commercial awareness, performance, profitability and continuous improvement across the business.
- Oversee the financial governance and performance of the Australian business and outsourced operations in India.
- Ensure effective risk management, internal controls and business continuity arrangements are maintained across the Group.
- Lead finance-related transformation initiatives, including process improvement, systems development and operational efficiency programmes.
- Contribute to the wider leadership, culture, capability development and long-term success of the Group.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO, Head of Finance or equivalent senior finance leader within a fast-paced, growth-oriented organisation, ideally in healthcare recruitment, staffing or professional services
- Previous Board-level experience with a strong understanding of corporate governance
- Strong commercial finance and business partnering capability, with the ability to influence business strategy and operational decision-making
- Significant experience of budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, financial reporting, cash flow management and business performance analysis
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll, tax, employment-related financial regulations, statutory reporting and external audit requirements
- Proven track record of improving financial controls, systems, processes and reporting within a growing organisation
- Experience managing multi-site and international operations, including overseas subsidiaries and outsourced service providers
- Able to operate both strategically and hands‑on, delivering practical solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working closely with senior operational leaders, providing constructive challenge, insight and support
- Within healthcare recruitment, staffing or workforce solutions
- Overseeing overseas operations, particularly in Australia
- Managing outsourced or offshore service centres
- Supporting acquisitions, integrations, international expansion and business transformation projects
- Knowledge of recruitment sector systems, contractor payroll models and healthcare workforce supply chains
