Speech and Language Job Description
- Speciality -Speech & Language Therapist - EOTAS / EHCP - Hampshire
- Location -Hampshire
- Start date -ASAP
- Contract Length -Ongoing
- Pay Rates -£30-£37 per hour
- Flexible Caseload | Assessments & Ongoing Provision | Hampshire
- We are looking for experienced HCPC-registered Speech & Language Therapists to support children and young people receiving EOTIS (Education Otherwise Than In School) provision across Hampshire.
- Hampshire County Council is commissioning a significant number of cases, including EHC Needs Assessments, review work and ongoing EHCP therapy provision.
- The greatest current demand is for children and young people with Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside cases involving complex communication needs and learning difficulties.
- Caseload: EOTIS / EHCP children and young people
- Hours: Flexible - caseload can be agreed around therapist availability
- Work: EHC Needs Assessments, EHCP reviews and ongoing therapy provision
- Setting: Community-based, including homes and other appropriate education/community settings
The Role
- Therapists will work autonomously with an allocated caseload, taking responsibility for coordinating their clinical work. This may include:
- Contacting parents/carers directly to arrange assessments, therapy sessions and reviews
- Completing Speech & Language Therapy assessments as part of the EHC Needs Assessment process
- Delivering therapy specified within EHCPs
- Reviewing existing provision and making appropriate recommendations
- Producing clear clinical reports and EHCP advice
- Liaising with parents, education professionals and other agencies
- Managing clinical documentation and allocated cases within agreed timescales
- Supporting functional communication and engagement for children and young people outside traditional school settings
- The majority of current cases have a primary need of:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
- Complex Communication Needs (CCN)
- Learning Disabilities (LD)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Requirements
- HCPC-registered Speech & Language Therapist
- Strong paediatric/SEND experience
- Experience assessing and supporting autistic children and young people
- Confident managing cases autonomously
- Experience with EHCP assessments, reports or provision is highly desirable
- Experience with complex communication needs/AAC would be advantageous
- Comfortable liaising directly with families and coordinating their own appointments
