Occupational Therapy Job Description
- Speciality -Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
- Location -Romford
- Start date - ASAP
- Contract Length - Ongoing
- Pay Rate - £90 per day
- 8:30am - 4pm hours
- 5 days per week
- Globe Locums is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support pupils within Astrum Multi Academy Trust's specialist SEND settings.
- This is an opportunity to help children and young people develop their communication, confidence and independence, working alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff.
The role:
- Provide individual and small-group support for pupils with special educational needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties.
- Help pupils access learning through activities adapted to their abilities, interests and communication needs.
- Support communication using visual resources and agreed strategies, under guidance from teachers and therapists.
- Help pupils manage transitions, regulate their emotions and participate in everyday school routines.
- Support personal care, mobility and mealtimes where required, following individual care plans and appropriate training.
- Record progress and contribute to targets linked to pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school or care setting.
- Is patient, calm and adaptable, with a positive approach to building relationships.
- Works well within a team and follows guidance from teaching and therapy staff.
- Is committed to safeguarding and helping every pupil achieve their potential.
- Has experience with approaches such as Makaton, PECS or AAC, although this is desirable rather than essential.
Requirements
- 1 year(s) post graduate experience
- Valid Passport/Visa
- Fully compliant and cleared to work
- DBS or Police Check
- HCPC Registered
