The Company Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading international engineering consultancy, is seeking experienced and qualified professionals to join the team in the United Kingdom.

The Role The incumbent will be responsible for leading and delivering dam breach assessments for tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and water-retaining structures. Focus on hydraulic modelling, consequence classification, inundation mapping, and integration of breach results into risk assessments, design decisions, and emergency preparedness planning.

The Responsibilities

  • Lead or support dam breach analyses for tailings and water dams, including breach mechanism definition, breach parameter selection, and scenario development.
  • Develop and run hydraulic and inundation models (e.g., HEC RAS, FLO 2D, RAMMS, or equivalent).
  • Produce inundation maps, consequence assessments, and support classification of facilities in line with international guidelines (GISTM, ICOLD, CDA, ANCOLD).
  • Interpret breach results to support risk assessments, design alternatives, and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal review, clients, and regulators.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and water resources teams to support integrated project delivery.
  • Support emergency response planning and development of Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans (EPRPs) where required.
  • Contribute to site investigations, data review, and validation of input parameters.

The Requirements Minimum 6 years’ experience in dam breach modelling, hydraulic modelling, or tailings/water dam safety engineering. Strong capability with hydraulic modelling software (e.g., HEC RAS 1D/2D, FLO 2D, MIKE, or similar). Understanding of tailings storage facilities, dam failure modes, breach mechanisms, and consequence classifications. Experience preparing inundation maps, hazard assessments, and technical reports. Familiarity with GISTM, ICOLD, CDA, ANCOLD, or equivalent guidelines.
