Leading spacecraft / satellite industry manufacturer and service provider are seeking an interim, freelance Mechanical Designer to support burgeoning project portfolio.

Tasks may include

  • Own end-to-end mechanical design and documentation for space hardware, payloads, and MGSE
  • Produce precise CAD models, assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide pragmatic engineering input during design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Hands-on support for prototyping, assembly, AIT, and mechanical testing.

Experience Required

  • 5+ years of practical experience developing complex mechanical structures or mechanisms in aerospace, space hardware, precision mechanics, or a similar field.
  • Must have space industry experience
  • Strong CAD skills, with detailed design, assemblies, and production drawings.
  • Strong track record of working on mechanisms / delivering mechanisms for space
  • Good understanding of manufacturability, tolerances, materials, fasteners, interfaces, and assembly constraints.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic problem solver who can quickly understand existing designs and work independently.

Nice to have

  • Experience with satellite hardware, mechanisms, vibration testing, MGSE, AIT, or engineering change processes.
