Relief International (RI) is seeking a Desk Coordinator to join its Program Implementation Department, part of the Global Support Team based in London. This pivotal role supports program development, proposal design, and grants management across a diverse portfolio that includes Sudan, Chad, Syria, Türkiye, and Lebanon, with a primary focus on Sudan.

The Desk Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Program Implementation, Resource Development, and Awards Management teams to ensure effective project cycle management, high-quality program delivery, and compliance with donor requirements. This position requires a proactive and flexible individual with demonstrated experience in humanitarian and development programming. The role reports to the Desk Manager (with a dotted line to the Desk Director) and involves regular field travel to provide direct technical support, capacity building, and surge assistance during humanitarian responses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and Proposal Development: The Desk Coordinator plays a leading role in program design and proposal development, ensuring all submissions are evidence-based, strategically aligned, and compliant with donor standards. Responsibilities include coordinating proposal timelines, leading or contributing to proposal writing and cost development, managing internal review processes, and ensuring timely submission via donor portals.
  • Grants Management and Compliance: The Desk Coordinator provides essential grants management support, working alongside the Desk Manager and other team members to ensure projects meet donor and organizational requirements. This includes coordinating reporting processes, reviewing and editing reports, and ensuring all documentation adheres to donor guidelines and RI standards.
  • Communication and Representation: The Desk Coordinator supports external communication by ensuring clear and timely updates to donors, partners, and internal stakeholders. This includes producing high-quality program briefs, capacity statements, and country profiles for business development and advocacy purposes.
  • Accountability and Conduct: The Desk Coordinator is expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, acting as a role model for RI’s Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policies.
Person Specification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Development, Humanitarian Studies, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in program development and grants management within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Proven experience with major donors such as USG, ECHO, AICS, and UN agencies; experience with EC and development donors is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of the project cycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Exceptional proposal writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for consensus building and cross-team coordination.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Flexibility to travel internationally for field support and short-term deployments.
  • Fluency in Arabic and/or French.
  • Prior experience working in Sudan or the MENA region.
