Women Moving Millions (WMM) is seeking a Program Director to play a central role in shaping and delivering high-impact programming for its global member community. This is a newly created, senior-level opportunity for a strategic and relationship-driven leader passionate about gender equality, women’s philanthropy, and collective impact. The role supports WMM’s mission to catalyse resources, leadership, and bold investments that advance the rights, autonomy, and agency of women and girls worldwide.
About Women Moving Millions: Women Moving Millions is a dynamic, impact-led community of more than 400 philanthropists who have collectively committed over USD 1 billion to improving the lives of women and girls. Through collaborative leadership that mobilises financial resources, social capital, and expertise, WMM accelerates progress toward gender equality. The organisation focuses on transforming how philanthropy is practised by removing barriers for innovators and inspiring courageous, values-aligned investments across a diverse funding ecosystem. At its core, WMM envisions a world where all women have full freedom and control over every aspect of their lives, guided by a strong set of shared values and beliefs.
The Opportunity: The Program Director will support the strategic vision and execution of WMM’s learning and engagement portfolio. This member-facing and partner-facing role is responsible for designing and delivering programming that strengthens philanthropic leadership, deepens understanding of gender justice issues, and fosters meaningful connection across the network. The role combines program strategy, content development, facilitation, and operational execution, working closely with the Chief of Programs and Learning and the Program Manager to ensure excellence and impact across all offerings. The ideal candidate is a confident facilitator, trusted relationship-builder, and highly organised self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments and is energised by engaging a powerful community of women committed to social change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Strategy and Design: Support the strategic design and implementation of virtual and in-person programs across thematic areas such as women’s health, gender-based violence, women in the arts, women and democracy, and gender-lens impact investing. Embed intersectionality as a core principle shaping program priorities and learning goals. Strengthen flagship initiatives, including the annual summit or retreat and the Philanthropic Leadership Program, ensuring strong facilitation and clear member outcomes. Develop rapid-response programming to address emergent moments, including crisis response, emergency giving, and collective reflection during challenging global or domestic events. Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on future program direction and innovation.
- Content Development and Facilitation: Research and identify leading voices, emerging perspectives, and timely insights across priority themes, with intentional centring of BIPOC and LGBTIQ voices. Collaborate to recruit, prepare, and support speakers to ensure inclusive, engaging, and well-aligned sessions. Elevate lived experience alongside technical expertise to foster meaningful dialogue, learning, and reflection. Build and steward long-term relationships with speakers, partners, and collaborators to expand WMM’s network. Develop compelling content and confidently facilitate or present virtual and in-person sessions, convenings, and discussions.
- Program Operations and Execution: Contribute to the development and delivery of a cohesive annual programming calendar aligned with organisational priorities. Support monitoring, learning, and evaluation efforts to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. Build authentic relationships with members, serving as a trusted and consistent presence within the community. Collaborate closely across a hybrid team and support team member growth and management as the organisation evolves. Provide flexible, ad-hoc support to the Chief of Programs and Learning as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Deep knowledge of women’s philanthropy and the broader gender justice movement.
- Proven experience designing and delivering learning-focused programs that inspire reflection and action.
- Familiarity with donor networks and individual philanthropists, including strategies for engagement and stewardship.
- Confident, relational communicator with strong facilitation and presentation skills in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and evolving responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership capacity, with experience managing or mentoring team members.
- Strong interpersonal judgment, emotional intelligence, and ability to hold sensitive conversations with care.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice.
- Clear alignment with Women Moving Millions’ mission, vision, values, and beliefs.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for organisational and member events.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@womenmovingmillions.org. The cover letter should briefly address experience related to gender justice or women’s rights movements, familiarity with philanthropy or donor-focused work, experience designing and facilitating programs or learning experiences, and any additional information demonstrating readiness for the scope and responsibilities of the role.
