On behalf of our client, Globalreach Integrated Services Ltd is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to support the safe and efficient operation of electrical distribution networks. This role offers an opportunity to take a leadership position in managing network operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading fault response and restoration activities within a dynamic and high-risk environment. We are looking for a qualified SAP with strong expertise in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, a proactive safety-first mindset, and the ability to operate effectively on complex and fast-paced projects. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Network Operations – Oversee planning, operation, and maintenance of electrical distribution networks, ensuring a safe and efficient power supply.
  • Authorisation Duties – Issue permits and oversee switching operations, ensuring all work is conducted under the correct safety authorisations.
  • Safety Management – Act as the controlling authority for equipment isolation, ensuring full compliance with UK electricity safety regulations.
  • Fault Management – Lead fault response and restoration, including diagnosis, isolation, and repair to minimise downtime and disruption.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure strict adherence to Distribution Safety Rules (DSR), the Electricity at Work Regulations (EAWR), and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Leadership – Supervise engineers and field teams, providing guidance during high-risk activities and ensuring competency in safety-critical tasks.
  • Training & Development – Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and technicians, supporting their professional growth and authorisation progression.
  • Documentation – Prepare and maintain accurate records, switching schedules, permits, and incident reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure effective problem-solving and communication.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential Requirements:

  • Holds current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status at up to [Insert Voltage Level, e.g., 33kV or 132kV] on UK electrical networks.
  • Extensive experience in the electricity distribution or transmission industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Distribution Safety Rules (DSR) and UK regulations (e.g., EAWR).
  • Proven ability to assess and manage risks in high-voltage environments.
  • Hands-on experience with substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership & decision-making in high-pressure situations.
  • Deep understanding of electrical protection systems & HV/LV switching operations.
  • Outstanding communication skills to liaise with technical & non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities for fault diagnosis & system improvements.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3/4 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with SCADA systems & network management tools.
  • Membership in a recognised professional body (IET, CIWEM, etc.).
