About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading infrastructure and utilities contractor, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the successful delivery of overhead line and electrical network infrastructure projects.

This role offers the opportunity to lead major power infrastructure programmes that support network reinforcement, new electricity connections, and the ongoing energy transition. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing construction activities across multiple projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of overhead line construction activities across multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors, and operational resources to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Drive programme performance and ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed milestones, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate outage planning, network access requirements, and project interfaces with operational stakeholders.
  • Review and implement construction programmes, work packs, permits, and risk management processes.
  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture through visible leadership, inspections, audits, and site briefings.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, landowners, local authorities, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support commercial objectives through effective resource planning, progress reporting, change management, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Senior Site Manager, or similar leadership role within power, utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of overhead line construction and electrical network delivery environments.
  • Sound knowledge of CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.
  • Previous experience leading operational teams and managing subcontractor performance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong reporting and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK Driver's Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering electricity distribution, transmission, or wider energy infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary projects involving overhead lines, substations, cabling, and civils works.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, network access processes, and outage planning requirements.
  • Previous experience working within DNO, ICP, or regulated utility environments.
  • Understanding of quality assurance procedures, inspection regimes, and construction documentation systems.
