As the DBT Architect/Lead Analytics Engineer, you will be the primary technical authority for our enterprise cloud migration. You will lead the transition from a Legacy Teradata environment to a modern AWS Lakehouse architecture. Your mission is to design the foundational dbt architecture that replaces 500+ complex BTEQ scripts with modular, performant, and audit‑ready pipelines supporting Risk, Finance, and Quants.
Requirements
- Design a scalable, DRY dbt project structure and materialization strategy tailored for a regulated enterprise migration.
- Lead the technical conversion of 500+ BTEQ scripts into dbt models, creating custom macros and automated translation patterns.
- Integrate dbt with Astronomer and OpenLineage to ensure end‑to‑end traceability for regulatory compliance.
- Architect a robust testing framework (dbt‑expectations/custom macros) to ensure attribute‑level parity between Legacy and target systems.
- Establish CI/CD deployment pipelines, code review standards, and environment separation to ensure zero‑defect releases.
- Serve as the program’s dbt SME, mentoring the engineering team on advanced modelling and Jinja templating.
Job responsibilities
- Expert‑level dbt Core/Cloud proficiency, including advanced Jinja, macro development, and incremental materialization strategies.
- Deep experience with Databricks (Unity Catalog, SparkSQL) and Apache Iceberg on AWS S3.
- Ability to reverse‑engineer Legacy Teradata/BTEQ and write highly optimised SQL for Databricks.
- Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow (ideally Astronomer) for managing complex dependency trees.
- Strong mastery of Git workflows, CI/CD for data, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
