We are seeking an experienced and motivated Software Engineering Manager. Must have experience in developing and managing people, including remote management, preferably gained within an IT Services Organisation.

  • As a client facing role, must be able to project gravitas based on engineering/SME excellence and experience and be able to respond effectively to client escalations.
  • Demonstrably able to build deep client relationships and trust.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver requirements to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Experience in candidate selection and onboarding.
  • Ability to motivate staff and build communities.

  • Must be numerate, with strong verbal and written skills.

Software Engineering Experience:

  • A strong background in Software Development with an understanding of the full SDLC lifecycle.
  • Cloud, DevOps desirable.
  • Be able to communicate an account level engineering vision for a globally integrated team but also be able to lead from within teams when necessary driving execution.
  • Past history in owning and driving teams across a variety of engineering excellence initiatives.
  • An ability to lead and execute engineering teams utilising the depth of hands-on experience in one of the disciplines.
  • Good understanding of the software development life cycle and experience with a variety of development & testing techniques/methodologies.
  • Expertise of working in all phases of SDLC including Developing, Automation & Testing along with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and cross-geography based teams.
  • Technical Insight: Should have experience rooted in a core set of engineering disciplines that are demonstrable within a client environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all people management activities from onboarding and induction to exit in line with staff policies and procedures and client controls.
  • Ensure regular 1 to 1 engagements and quarterly reviews in line with personal development plans.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff at both an individual and at a group level where appropriate.
  • Work to ensure team skills and capacity match current and future demand.
  • Track attrition trends and escalate accordingly.
  • Ensure all professional qualifications are current and aligned to the account strategy.
  • Manage the wellbeing of all people.
  • Monitor staff satisfaction scores, respond as appropriate and manage trends.
  • Develop and own the local staff engagement plan alongside the Client Services Lead.
  • Liaison with the UK & Global Practice leaders to ensure that development paths are open for staff in both directions, but also to have an active skills crossover plan.
  • Employee internal administration (PES, timesheets, Profiles).
  • Ensure understanding of the Account strategy and direction and be able to articulate this to staff aligned to the account and industry sector to enable training, education and skills development to be delivered to meet current and future personal and account requirements.
  • Liaison with nearshore and offshore Engineering Managers Skills and resource plans support account development plan.
  • Responsible for organising and budgeting for team social events as required.
