The role… GlobalData's Custom Solutions group is currently recruiting for a project manager. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in the global FMCG sector with demonstrable experience / knowledge in this area. They will be proactive, have an eye for detail and have strong organisation skills to be able to successfully ensure that projects are delivered to set timelines, on budget and to a high standard. Typical projects for a Project Manager involve critical business intelligence, researching, analysing how consumer behaviours and trends are driving their industries and a view as to how trends are likely to shape future market development.
Key responsibilities:
- Have existing or developing expertise within the Consumer Goods, Foodservice, Packaging sectors
- Have a good understanding of project life cycle for consulting / market research project
- Understand the research methodologies associated with consulting tasks such as primary research, secondary research and data analysis, insights generation.
- Divide the project into multiple phases to facilitate sub-task planning and execution. Ensure that the timelines for each phase align with the overall schedule and delivery deadlines.
- Process savvy, and be able to lead by example in each project
- To be able to bring outside in view from past experiences, industry knowledge and cross team learnings.
- Foreseeing bottlenecks and probing in right areas to pre-empt potential client question, mitigate risks and eventually value add to the deliverables.
- Interpret business proposals and convert proposals to an actionable work plan
- Schedule and lead frequent check-ins with analysts
- Ensure the analyst team deliver high quality deliverables for our clients on time, to scope and within budget
- Provide insight and strong recommendations, demonstrating thought leadership for our clients
- Ensure top quality deliverables are being produced within the team to meet client expectations
- Ensure relevant project documents are updated timely and accurately
Role requirements:
- Track record in successfully managing team members across a full project lifecycle
- Demonstrate effective project management ability to deliver projects on time and to a high quality
- Comfortable interacting with external and internal stakeholders
- Strong detail orientation, with exceptional quality standards
In addition to the above, the applicant would ideally have demonstrable experience in the following key areas:

High level of numeracy and ability to work well with data in Excel. Good to have understanding and knowledge of thinkcell, float, teamwork or project management tools. Ability to understand and quickly find out solutions and present these in a clear and logical form. Demonstrate best practice when specifying, documenting, identifying, and managing data quality. Able to conduct highly complex checks on the output of others, as well devise highly effective sense checks using not only existing data sets (per capita etc) but also cross-references against external "gold standard" sources. Able to devise and conduct SWOT, 5 Forces, PESTEL and score carding assessments. Able to identify, differentiate and assess new trends and fads and apply them to new or existing trend frameworks. Extensive understanding of how to interpret client's key strategic objectives and able to align product propositions to them. Able to train others to independently produce robust conclusions and recommendations. Experience in producing insightful and impactful written content, mainly delivered in PowerPoint, but also in Microsoft Word where necessary. Strong use of concise Business English coupled with engaging text and supporting visuals aids. Experience in designing templates aligned to scope, and requirements for data. Confident in presenting internally and externally, with enthusiasm for the topic in order to effectively engage the audience. Fully competent at stating and defending the research methodology and sources and answering questions related to the research topic.
Education: A minimum Post graduate degree in Economics, Statistics, Science or MBA in any streams
Experience: 1+ years’ experience in Market Research, Consulting, or Business Analytics, or strong interest in forming a career in Consulting/ Strategy Analysis
FMCG Experience: Experience in FMCG goods or Consumer industry is desired, but a strong interest in developing knowledge in the industry would also make a candidate successful.
