About the job
- Contribute to Global Capital’s public sector bond (SSA) market coverage, covering the latest deals, trends, themes and news of key people within the market as well as providing accurate, timely data to our proprietary datasets.
- Get to know the market and its key players to maintain Global Capital’s reputation in what is one of the most important markets it covers.
- Contribute opinion pieces, longer features and analysis and make appearances on our podcasts as required.
- Collate and contribute accurate and timely data for Global Capital’s data offering in conjunction with data team
- Be one of the voices of the SSA bond market within the newsroom, pitching story ideas, championing special report ideas, and writing for them, and providing insight and a source of collaboration for the rest of the editorial team to make sure Global Capital is at the forefront of the newest trends and ideas in capital markets.
- Write with accuracy in the house style and to tight deadlines, to maintain Global Capital’s distinctive editorial voice and its reputation as a reliable and indispensable part of working in capital markets.
- Build a broad number of deep relationships with key people in the SSA bond market and become part of the daily fabric of that market to ensure the newspaper understands its subject and its readers better than any of its rivals and has as many sources for stories as possible.
- Represent the newspaper at industry events to provide coverage, build contacts and to enhance Global Capital’s reputation as part of the fabric of the markets it covers.
- Support the SSA Editor in seeing that the relevant news and data sections of the Global Capital website are kept up to date and that relevant email news alerts are well presented with fresh content each day and distributed to deadline.
- Provide cover from time to time for other sections as required

The SSA Reporter will report to the SSA Editor and will work with other senior editorial colleagues as directed
- Candidate Profile/Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience of covering the primary bond markets
- A proven ability to build trusted relationships with sources.
- Ability to lead from the front in driving market leading coverage
- Attention to detail and impeccable standards of accuracy.
- Comfortable working with numbers and data.
- Ability to represent the business at GC and industry events
- Ability to work under own direction.
- Willingness to travel abroad and work outside of regular hours when required.
- Eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
- Experience of working with data tools and AI an advantage
