GlobalCAD is looking for an experienced Bentley MicroStation BIM Technician / Digital Engineer to support a major UK rail infrastructure project. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced fire alarm designer, developing coordinated 3D models and producing project deliverables within the Bentley environment. The role is predominantly remote, although occasional attendance in Birmingham may be required.
What we're looking for
- Strong Bentley MicroStation experience (2D & 3D)
- Experience producing coordinated BIM models and drawings
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and accurately develop coordinated 3D models
- Experience working with ProjectWise or other controlled Common Data Environments (CDEs)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple review and revision cycles
- Confident communicating in English
- Comfortable working directly with UK project teams via Microsoft Teams
- Available to work UK business hours
Desirable
- OpenBuildings, OpenRail or OpenRoads experience
- Fire alarm, electrical or ELV systems experience
- Rail or major infrastructure project experience
- Revit MEP or other BIM software experience
- iTwin or other Bentley collaboration tools
About the Role
You will work alongside Protec's fire alarm designer, who will remain responsible for the engineering design. Your role will focus on:
- Developing coordinated 3D Bentley models
- Positioning fire alarm devices from approved design information
- Producing coordinated 2D drawings
- Responding to review comments
- Updating models through multiple coordination cycles
- Working within ProjectWise and project digital workflows
This is not a fire alarm design role. It is a digital engineering and BIM coordination position.
