Your new role: Legal Counsel, Data

As Legal Counsel, Data at Global, you will advise on complex data protection matters across Global’s diverse media and entertainment businesses, including radio, video, podcasts, adtech, outdoor advertising, live events, competitions and more. You’ll act as a trusted legal partner, helping Global navigate a fast‑moving regulatory landscape while supporting innovation across our business including digital and adtech products, technology and commercial.
Your expertise will shape how Global builds products, protects consumer trust, and manages data responsibly across a wide and fast‑changing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Data Protection Advice (40%): Advising on data protection issues across Global’s businesses including radio, video, podcasts, adtech and outdoor. This includes supporting teams on privacy risks, compliance requirements, new initiatives, marketing activity, and business operations involving the use of personal data.
- Product & Technology Support (20%): Advising on new B2B and B2C products, features and systems, including profiling activities, targeted advertising and data matching. You’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and digital stakeholders to embed privacy into product design.
- Compliance & Governance (20%): Supporting DPIAs, LIAs, ROPA maintenance, internal privacy policies, data breach management and ICO correspondence. You’ll help oversee data subject rights processes and support internal audits by the DPO.
- Contracts (20%): Drafting and reviewing data processing and data sharing agreements, adtech‑related terms, due diligence questionnaires, and international.
