Your Role: Director of Technology Strategy and Portfolio

You'll play a pivotal role in the Technology Senior Leadership Team, helping to shape, coordinate and drive the overall direction of Technology across Global. Acting as a trusted partner and Chief of Staff to the CTO, you will bring together the different parts of Technology into a clear, cohesive and high‑performing function, with a particular focus on strategy, portfolio, performance, financial planning and AI‑related opportunities.

As a Director of Technology Strategy and Portfolio at Global, you will:

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership and planning (25%) Partner with the CTO and Technology leaders to shape and evolve the Technology strategy, ensure a coherent, integrated direction across all functions, and translate ambition into clear plans, priorities and deliverables that stay aligned with business needs and emerging opportunities.
  • Portfolio oversight and prioritisation (25%) Own the overall Technology portfolio view, ensuring demand, dependencies, risks and delivery plans are visible and actively managed. Lead portfolio governance and prioritisation so resources are focused on the most important outcomes, supported by clear data, trade‑offs and recommendations.
  • CTO Office / Chief of Staff (20%) Act as a trusted adviser and Chief of Staff to the CTO, running effective leadership rhythms, agenda setting and decision tracking, coordinating cross‑functional activity, preparing executive materials and providing additional leadership capacity for strategic initiatives and special projects.
  • AI strategy, performance and financial planning (20%) Help shape and coordinate Technology's role in enabling Global's AI ambitions, ensuring AI priorities are reflected in plans, portfolio choices and investment decisions. Lead consolidation of Technology budgets and performance reporting, providing clear, insightful updates and strengthening planning and governance disciplines.
  • Continuous improvement, communications and stakeholder engagement (10%) Drive improvements in how Technology operates, collaborates and measures performance. Lead clear, business‑focused communication of Technology's value, priorities and outcomes, building strong relationships and ensuring purposeful, well‑aligned communications across Technology and the wider business.

What You'll Need

  • Senior technology leadership experience: Significant experience in technology strategy, portfolio management, transformation, operations or a comparable leadership role in a complex organisation.
  • Strategic and portfolio skills: Proven ability to shape strategic direction, lead portfolio planning and prioritisation, and turn strategy into practical plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Financial and performance acumen: Strong skills in budget consolidation, planning, reporting and performance management, with a focus on insightful, decision‑oriented information.
  • Communication and influencing: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technology value in clear business language and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership and collaboration: Highly organised, structured and comfortable managing complexity, with the ability to align multiple teams and drive continuous improvement and organisational effectiveness.
  • AI and digital awareness: Ideally, experience of supporting digital, data or AI‑related strategy or transformation, and an interest in how emerging technologies can drive business value.
