In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for the continual improvement and reliable operation of the infrastructure that delivers digital advertising across the iconic TfL travel network in London. You will play a key role in understanding existing digital capabilities and in delivering agreed enhancements and new capabilities in line with established standards and protocols. You will bring experience across a broad range of technologies, along with the judgement to recognise when further upskilling or escalation is required. You will be comfortable implementing defined technical solutions that meet both current and future business needs within a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment. Working closely with project, technology and on‑site installation teams, you will help deliver end‑to‑end solutions, taking hands‑on responsibility for the technical aspects of installation and deployment, often during overnight works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the digital infrastructure
  • Document business requirements and existing capabilities.
  • Implement new digital capabilities in line with agreed designs, standards and protocols.
  • Implement improvements to existing digital capabilities, following established processes.
  • 3rd Line Incident Management (process agent)
  • Take ownership of 3rd line incidents through to resolution.
  • Manage escalation to external vendors where required.
  • Support 1st line teams by providing technical expertise, particularly during live incidents and deployments.
  • Responsible for Problem Management (process manager)
  • Proactively identify problems arising from incidents and operational trends.
  • Identify root causes, workarounds and permanent fixes.
  • Plan and implement fixes, or support 1st line teams to do so.
  • Responsible for Change Management (process manager)
  • Raise change requests in response to problems or project activity.
  • Plan, implement and review changes in line with change management processes.

Additional

This role will require regular out‑of‑hours working driven by project and operational requirements. This will often involve overnight work alongside installation crews on the London Underground network and at roadside locations nationwide. You will be expected to take technical responsibility during these works, ensuring installations are completed safely, correctly and to standard. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the nature of the role, at the discretion of line management.

What Success Looks Like

In the first few months, you would have:

  • Demonstrated a strong understanding of the core digital infrastructure.
  • Studied for and passed the required examinations to achieve your Sentinel card for safe working on the railway.
  • Become competent in using core applications, including the CMS of choice.
  • Understood key project details such as IP schema and connectivity relationships.
  • Reviewed team documentation and felt confident contributing improvements.
  • Been able to independently resolve common incident types.

What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive, delivery‑focused and comfortable working to defined standards and processes, while collaborating closely with the wider Infrastructure team.

Essential

  • 3+ years’ experience using remote management tools (e.g. Microsoft Terminal Services, VNC).
  • 3+ years working with core network and infrastructure technologies (e.g. DNS, DHCP, HTTP(S), HTML, IIS/Apache, Windows Server, Cisco, PowerShell).
  • 3+ years supporting Microsoft Windows desktop environments.
  • 1+ years supporting Linux operating systems (e.g. Ubuntu).
  • 3+ years’ experience implementing technical solutions and integrating COTS products.
  • Experience using a digital advertising, digital signage or comparable content management system.
  • 2+ years working with an ITSM tool (e.g. ServiceNow, Halo, Freshdesk).
  • Experience working on small to medium technical projects.
  • Experience working within an ITIL‑aligned environment.
  • Ability to take responsibility for personal, technical and industry‑specific development.

Desirable

  • Experience working cross‑functionally using a business partnering approach.
  • Experience in customer‑facing environments, with the ability to prioritise based on impact and risk.
  • Experience understanding business requirements and supporting end‑to‑end technical processes.
  • Experience using ServiceNow.
  • Experience using PDQ Inventory & Deploy or similar remote OS and software deployment tools.
  • Experience deploying or supporting digital advertising or digital signage platforms in live environments.

Desirable Qualifications

  • BTEC National Diploma or equivalent Level 3 IT qualification, or higher.
  • Microsoft certification such as Installing and Configuring Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2008 or later.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
