Global Water Solutions is currently seeking an experienced IT professional to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of our IT systems, provide guidance on IT governance and data protection, and support audit activities. The successful candidate will help us review current systems, identify gaps, and propose improvements, whilst also functioning as a backup and support to the Global IT Manager. This is a part-time, fixed-term contract role for a period of 6 months, with the potential to evolve into a permanent position, based at our office in Woking. We are a mid-sized industrial organisation with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach to IT governance. This role is ideal for someone looking to further develop their expertise in IT governance, risk, and data protection within a supportive team environment. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy in analysis, while key decisions and priorities are aligned with the Global IT Manager. This role offers the opportunity to take on meaningful and intellectually engaging project work in IT governance and risk within a flexible, part-time structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting a risk assessment of all IT systems and processes
- Support audit activities and help implement recommendations
- Review existing IT governance and controls, and propose practical enhancements in collaboration with stakeholders
- Support to ensure that IT systems and processes adhere to data protection principles and GDPR requirements
- Advise and support IT teams on data protection and governance queries
- Provide intermittent operational support as a backup to the Global IT Manager
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in IT governance, IT audit, risk, or compliance roles
- Knowledge of IT control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISO 27001, ITIL)
- Deep understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements in IT environments
- Experience conducting audits or assessments of IT systems
- Ability to produce clear, actionable reports and proposals
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Knowledge and Interest in IT operations or administration (for backup and support tasks) - experience desirable (focus will be on compliance, risk assessment and governance)
- Ideally previous project-based IT advisory experience
