A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for medicine and first-opinion care to join a large, well-equipped hospital team in the West Midlands.
About the Practice
This is a first-opinion small animal hospital providing true 24-hour care, supported by a highly experienced team of 19 vets — including 7 certificate holders spanning cardiology, dermatology, medicine, ophthalmology, and soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, alongside colleagues actively working towards further certificates. The facilities are exceptional:
- CT scanner
- 12 operating theatres
- Fully equipped dental suite with dental training available
- Digital X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy
- Comprehensive in-house laboratory
The practice operates across a main hospital site and several branch practices, all within 30 minutes of Birmingham city centre. A dedicated night team handles all OOH work, with last appointments at 6:30pm on weekdays — meaning your focus remains firmly on progressive daytime clinical work. As part of the wider Linnaeus network, the team also benefits from close collaboration with referral centres and specialists across the group.
About the Role
This is a permanent position available on a full-time or part-time basis. The weekend rota is 1 in 10 full weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and 1 in 5 Saturdays, with time back in lieu — one of the most favourable rotas around. The role has a strong emphasis on consultations and medical case work-ups, alongside routine procedures and preventative healthcare. You'll have the clinical freedom to manage your own caseload, build long-term client relationships, and develop your medical skills in a practice that actively supports further qualifications.
What They're Looking For
They are looking for a confident, RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with extensive first-opinion experience and a genuine interest in small animal medicine. The ideal candidate will either hold a certificate in medicine or be working towards one, and will be a team player who values high standards of care across all areas of practice.
What They Can Offer You
- Salary up to £65,000 DOE
- 1 in 10 full weekends and 1 in 5 Saturdays with time back in lieu
- No OOH — dedicated night team on site
- 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and birthday leave
- RCVS and VDS fees paid

- Enhanced equal family leave
- Life assurance and employer contribution pension scheme
- E-car salary sacrifice scheme
