GVC are proud to be assisting an independent, small animal-only veterinary practice in their search for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their close-knit and supportive team. Located in a charming town between Cambridge and Bedford, this well-established practice offers the perfect balance of countryside living with easy access to London via the A1M corridor or train, making it an ideal location for professionals seeking a high quality of life.
Due to an increase in family commitments among the team, the practice is now seeking an experienced, permanent Veterinary Surgeon who shares their ethos of delivering excellent clinical care while maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment.
The Role:
- Permanent position with a 4-day working week (8:30am – 7:00pm)
- 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8:30am – 12:00pm)
- No out-of-hours
- 20-minute consults to ensure thorough, unhurried care
- Flexible working options encouraged to support work-life balance
About the Practice:
This is a progressive, forward-thinking practice committed to clinical excellence and continuous improvement. Feedback and ideas are genuinely welcomed and acted upon.
The team consists of:
- 3 receptionists
- 4 qualified nurses
- 2 trainee nurses
- 5 Vets, working collaboratively in a friendly and encouraging environment
The practice holds PSS accreditation and is proud to be a Cat Friendly Clinic.
Facilities & Equipment:
The practice is exceptionally well-equipped, with a strong focus on diagnostics and minimally invasive procedures, including:
- Full Idexx in-house laboratory
- Ultrasound with 4 probes
- Laparoscopic surgical equipment
- Bronchoscopy and endoscopy
- Digital radiography, including DR dental radiography
The lead clinician is an Advanced Practitioner in Diagnostic Imaging with a surgical interest and offers mentorship and clinical support for ongoing development.

The ideal candidate will be:
- An experienced Veterinary Surgeon, confident in routine surgery
- Passionate about high-quality medicine and client care
- A team player who values supportive working relationships
- Someone who appreciates that treating pets also means supporting their owners
