A large, well-equipped veterinary hospital in East London (Greater London) is seeking an experienced GP Veterinary Surgeon to join its first-opinion and ECC-led clinical team. This role suits a confident all-rounder who enjoys the pace and variety of a hospital environment and is comfortable managing both routine and emergency caseloads.

With a strong diagnostic focus and access to advanced imaging, this opportunity is particularly well suited to a GP vet with an interest in diagnostic imaging, whether already developed or as a future certificate pathway.

Facilities include CT imaging, an in-house commercial laboratory, and a multidisciplinary clinical team with advanced expertise in orthopaedics, soft tissue and minimally invasive surgery.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver high standards of evidence-based clinical care across hospital services
  • Participate in the GP consulting, medical and surgical rota
  • Confidently perform routine surgeries including bitch spays and dentals
  • Manage emergency and urgent cases within a hospital setting
  • Investigate cases thoroughly using diagnostics such as radiography and blood testing
  • Prescribe and dispense medicines in line with RCVS guidance and legislation
  • Work autonomously while recognising limitations and escalating when appropriate
  • Communicate clearly with clients using a patient-centred approach
  • Contribute positively to team morale and collaborative hospital culture

What You’ll Gain From Them

  • Salary range of £45,000–£73,000, depending on experience
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
  • Up to £2,000 CPD allowance plus up to 5 paid CPD days

  • Structured rota averaging 40 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation of 1:3 Saturdays and 1:6 Sundays
  • Exposure to consulting, surgery, wards and ECC within one role
  • Established clinical leadership including senior vets, head vet, senior nursing and hospital management

  • Proven experience in a GP or hospital environment
  • Confidence with routine surgery and emergency case management
  • Strong clinical reasoning and time-management skills
