An established small animal practice in Essex is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. The role is suited to an experienced clinician who wishes to manage their own surgical caseload within a collaborative, multi-site clinical team.
Who They Are
Part of a wider network of day and night practices, the practice benefits from certificate holders across surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging. On-site facilities include multiple consult rooms, theatre, digital x-ray, and an in-house laboratory, with access to nearby hospital facilities for CT, MRI, and endoscopy.
What the Role Involves
- Managing and developing a personal surgical caseload with a strong orthopaedic focus
- Performing advanced soft tissue procedures alongside fracture repairs and cruciate surgery
- Participating in consulting duties as appropriate
- Mentoring and supporting less experienced veterinary surgeons and recent graduates
- Working closely with an experienced nursing and support team
- Following cases through advanced diagnostics and procedures where desired
Benefits & Package
- Salary: negotiable, dependent on experience
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, with 4 or 5-day week options
- Weekend on-call rota: 1 in 10; no out-of-hours work
- 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays

Candidate Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Holder of a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery

- Comfortable balancing surgical and consulting responsibilities
- Able to mentor and support colleagues within a team environment
