An established small animal practice in Essex is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. The role is suited to an experienced clinician who wishes to manage their own surgical caseload within a collaborative, multi-site clinical team.

Who They Are

Part of a wider network of day and night practices, the practice benefits from certificate holders across surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging. On-site facilities include multiple consult rooms, theatre, digital x-ray, and an in-house laboratory, with access to nearby hospital facilities for CT, MRI, and endoscopy.

What the Role Involves

  • Managing and developing a personal surgical caseload with a strong orthopaedic focus
  • Performing advanced soft tissue procedures alongside fracture repairs and cruciate surgery
  • Participating in consulting duties as appropriate
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced veterinary surgeons and recent graduates
  • Working closely with an experienced nursing and support team
  • Following cases through advanced diagnostics and procedures where desired

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, with 4 or 5-day week options
  • Weekend on-call rota: 1 in 10; no out-of-hours work

Candidate Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Holder of a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery

  • Comfortable balancing surgical and consulting responsibilities
  • Able to mentor and support colleagues within a team environment
