About Global Vehicle Group
Global Vehicle Group (GVG) is the UKβs largest and most diverse B2B leasing broker. Through our specialist brands β Global Vans, Fleet Alliance, XLCR and LCV Group β we manage over 70,000 vehicles with assets under management exceeding Β£2.5 billion.
This role is primarily based at Global Vans in Bristol but with some travel across our other business areas in the UK.
The Role
The Compliance Manager is a senior second-line role responsible for embedding a consistent and robust compliance culture across the Group, with primary responsibility for Global Vans (GV), XLCR and LCV. The role provides independent oversight, challenge and risk-based assurance, and acts as a trusted adviser to senior management across the entities it supports. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy, exercising independent judgement while remaining clearly outside first-line operational activity, and escalating material risks to the Group Head of Compliance as appropriate.
What I will I be doing
- Deliver risk-based second-line oversight, thematic reviews and assurance activity across GV, XLCR and LCV, including specialist regulatory and conduct risk areas such as consumer credit, insurance distribution, data protection, financial crime and financial promotions.
- Review management information, trends and emerging risks, providing independent challenge and recommendations for remediation.
- Escalate material regulatory, conduct or compliance risks to the Group Head of Compliance in a timely manner.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior management on regulatory compliance and conduct matters.
- Provide clear, practical advice on regulatory expectations and their application in business decision-making.
- Constructively challenge senior stakeholders where regulatory or conduct risks are identified.
- Support the implementation, embedding and adherence to Group compliance policies, frameworks and minimum standards.
- Interpret regulatory developments and assess their impact across supported entities.
- Support the Group Head of Compliance in the implementation of regulatory change.
- Provide second-line oversight of Consumer Duty governance, conduct risk and customer outcomes across supported entities.
- Review outcomes-focused MI and challenge where foreseeable harm or poor outcomes are identified.
- Support the definition of Group compliance training and certification standards.
- Provide independent oversight and verification of training completion and effectiveness.
- Challenge management where required training or certification has not been completed, including requiring business activity to cease until compliance requirements are met.
What will I need to succeed
- The ability to lead compliance as a senior leader with demonstrated successes in this area.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance within financial services or a regulated environment.
- Experience delivering second-line oversight, assurance or monitoring activity.
- Confidence operating independently and exercising sound judgement.
- Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and provide effective challenge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to take a proportionate, risk-based approach.
- Providing independent challenge to senior management, being confident to push back where needed and have the negotiation/influencing skills to overcome objections and bring people along on the journey.
- Operating as a trusted second-line adviser, not just a policy or monitoring resource.
- Taking ownership for compliance across multiple business areas/sites or in a large organisation, prioritising risk without needing close supervision.
- Interpreting regulation and making pragmatic judgement calls.
What we offer
- Weβre going through an exciting part of our journey with lots of opportunity available in a customer orientated and commercially focussed team.
- Great work environment with team, charity and social events.
- Opportunity for development.
- Enhanced holidays.
- Enhanced family leave.
- Salary sacrifice benefits and product discounts.
- Access to GP appointments and EAP.
