Position:
Academic Interviewers & Employability Officers are expected to work alongside the recruitment and admissions teams and the faculty to ensure effective and smooth running of the application process, interviews and be a proactive agent in the College employability, engagement and progression strategy. TLG seeks to ensure that all applicants who are interested in studying have relevant work experience, appropriate entry qualifications, numeracy and literacy skills, and have the required motivation, interest and capability to commit to their chosen course. Academic interviews follow formal entry requirements and appropriate admissions route, in addition, a judgement of an individual’s ability to fully engage with the selected studies to achieve their goal, is an essential part of the role. Conducting interviews and ensuring students understand the commitments and their own development needs is critical. Providing administrative and expert support to students, working alongside Faculty and Success Tutors, to build up students’ professional / soft skills, drive engagement, enhance employability is also key to achieve graduate outcomes.
Under the general direction of the Admissions Manager in terms of engagement and retention. The individual will perform duties related to the admission of students to the College, in accordance with admissions policy and procedures as well as possessing strong customer service skills, administrative competence, confidence, and an innate drive to achieve professionally, be adaptable, resilient and able to work under pressure.
- Conduct interviews, review student folders, CVs, and personal statements.
- Submit interview forms with evaluations.
- Recommend offers or rejections, building positive student relationships.
- Identify students needing additional support.
- Support student retention and progression with employability and career guidance.
- Develop an employability engagement strategy and report on admissions and progression.
Requirements:
Essential
- Relevant Interviewing and / or student admissions experience
- Academic administrative experience
- Experience supporting professional development
Desirable
- Relevant Industry experience (Business Management)
- Experience of conducting interviews in an academic setting
- Coaching experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Clear understanding of the requirements for HE studies, and good practices associated with interviewing
- Strong communication and Interpersonal skills with ability to guide and support
- Excellent attention to detail
- Understanding of Employability and Professional Development that will enhance Student Experience
- Problem Solving ability
Qualifications/Education
