Join Global Travel Companions Ltd, a UK-registered limited company providing non-CQC regulated tailored travel companion and non-medical escort services. We assist lone travellers, older adults, and those requiring non-clinical reassurance on domestic and international journeys—offering dignity, safety, and peace of mind every step of the way.

About the Role (Freelance Contractor)

We are expanding our contractor network and welcome applications from professional, responsible individuals who are available to provide travel companion and non-medical escort services on an ad-hoc basis. Typically, our deployments range from 2 to 7 days in duration, and we seek to provide one person per assignment. Our clients often need support at short notice as their original travel plans change. We would ideally like candidates to be within 1 hour travel time of a UK International Airport. We are happy to consider applicants working on a self-employed basis or through a limited company.

In this role, you will support clients in a variety of travel contexts, including:

  • Flight escorts (e.g., airport meet-and-greet, international travel support)
  • Rail and road travel assistance – UK & International
  • Cruise embarkation/disembarkation support
  • Overnight travel with hotel stays
  • Non-medical repatriation support

As a contractor position, this role is not salaried, and work will be offered on the basis of your availability to work as and when required to meet customer needs.

  • Provide high quality customer service, based on individual customers travel plans and itineraries, and adapting to changing needs.
  • Provide friendly, reliable and compassionate companionship and assistance to our customers.
  • Assist with logistics, travel transitions, and individual mobility needs (non-clinical).
  • Communicate clearly with families, coordinators, or support teams as appropriate.
  • Adhere to safeguarding standards and uphold client dignity at all times.

Important: This is a non-clinical, non-care role. No personal care or medical intervention is delivered. This service operates outside of regulated activities under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, and CQC registration is not required.

Experience in areas such as healthcare support, travel-related customer services or passenger assistance, previous or current working in a travel environment ensuring customer safety and satisfaction. Confident supporting others while travelling independently or abroad.

Contractors must hold or be willing to obtain (at own cost):

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (on the Update Service)
  • Valid UK passport and right to work in the UK
  • Public liability/indemnity and business travel insurance

Documentary evidence for completion of training in the following (or be willing to obtain):

  • First Aid Training including basic life support techniques (CPR, Defibrillator use, etc)
  • Manual Handling training
  • Non-clinical infection prevention and control Level 1 (or equivalent)
  • Safeguarding Level 2 (Adults & Children)
  • Information Governance / GDPR training
  • Equality, Diversity and Cultural Awareness / lone working / Health & safety
