Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Technician to join our team in Bury St Edmunds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT hardware repair, refurbishment, and equipment maintenance , along with mechanical knowledge and hands-on repair skills. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing IT equipment to ensure all devices meet our quality standards before leaving the facility. The Technician will play a key role in supporting our operations and delivering high-quality service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and IT equipment faults.

  • Set up and configure computer networking systems.

  • Carry out cosmetic repairs and refurbishment (eg applying vinyl skins to laptop lids and keyboards).

  • Conduct upgrades and repairs, such as HDD, RAM, and GPU/graphics card replacement.

  • Perform data sanitisation using approved erasure software.

  • Operate data destruction plant machinery for secure disposal.

  • Grade IT equipment in line with company standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, refurbishments, and quality checks.

  • Test IT peripherals and operating systems prior to dispatch.

  • Manage stock and asset inventory, including SKU creation, stock location updates, and stock takes.

  • Pick, pack, and prepare IT equipment for dispatch.

  • Enter and update data in company database systems.

  • Dismantle beyond economical repair equipment (WEEE).

  • Complete and verify collection and delivery paperwork.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve processes and service delivery.

  • Maintain a safe and organised workspace.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in IT equipment repair and refurbishment.

  • Strong understanding of product quality standards.

  • Proficiency with hand tools for repair and maintenance tasks.

  • Ability to read and follow scope and technical documents.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
