Business Development Consultant – Telephone Based

Location: Manchester (Hybrid considered)

Salary: £50,000 basic + OTE £100k

We're a fast-paced, innovative training provider working across nine regulated sectors, including foster care, children's homes, leaving care, adult social care, and education. Our training empowers professionals to support children and vulnerable adults, driving meaningful outcomes while helping organisations stay compliant and grow.

The Role

We're seeking a Business Development Consultant to join our growing team. This is a telephone-based role, ideally based in Manchester (hybrid working considered).

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and engaging new contacts within local authorities and private sector organisations to identify key decision-makers responsible for training.
  • Exploring opportunities with existing clients to deepen relationships and expand their use of our services.
  • Contacting and converting organisations with non-paid trial accounts into active, paying customers.
  • Introducing and demonstrating our systems, products, and services to prospective clients.
  • Discussing training needs in a consultative manner to provide tailored solutions.
  • Building and managing a strong sales pipeline across multiple regulated sectors.
  • Accurately maintaining outreach records, conversations, and opportunities in the CRM.

  • High volume of quality outbound dials to targeted contacts.
  • Tenacious follow-up and strategic engagement to move opportunities forward.
  • Controlled call duration, ensuring conversations are focused and efficient.
  • Smart, critical thinking to navigate complex organisations and identify decision-makers quickly.
  • Effective conversion of trials and warm leads into paying clients.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a business development, sales, or consultative B2B role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence in delivering online demos and presentations.
  • Experience working with or selling into local authorities or regulated sectors is an advantage.
