The Staff Project Controls Specialist will lead project controls processes in partnership with internal project management teams to ensure delivery of project milestones on schedule and within budget. This role supports engineering, procurement, and construction activities through advanced scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with execution plans and internal standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead project controls activities including planning, scheduling, cost control, and forecasting
- Set up and manage projects within Enterprise Planning & Controls software
- Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Develop scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and earned value metrics
- Review logs, analyze data, and generate reports to support project decision-making
- Support engineering, procurement, and construction planning and logistics
- Serve as a technical point of contact for project controls-related questions
- Review and approve purchase orders and subcontracts for proper coding
- Track, input, and document changes to cost reports and forecasts
- Interface with Project Management and Accounting to review costs, contingencies, and support audits
- Review upstream and downstream change orders
- Develop and present cash flow and schedule performance reports
- Apply and validate logic ties, resource loading, and critical path schedules
- Perform schedule what-if scenarios and progress measurement validation
- Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM)
- Conduct quality checks, field audits, and inspections of project controls deliverables
- Assist with project forensic analysis as required
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 3+ years of direct project controls experience (Applicable experience may substitute for degree requirements)
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of critical path method (CPM) scheduling, cost management, and forecasting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10-hour Safety Certification
