Position Summary

The Material Handling & Inspection Technician is responsible for inspecting and testing purchased materials, components, and finished products in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role also involves material handling duties, including the movement and organization of incoming and outgoing materials. The technician ensures product quality, proper documentation, and compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspection and testing of materials and components in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Record inspection and test data accurately as prescribed by written instructions.
  • Operate test and measurement equipment as instructed and per procedural documentation.
  • Recommend changes to inspection policies and procedures; may prepare and submit formal change requests.
  • Document non-conformances within the Non-Conforming Material Review (NCMR) system.
  • Participate in Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies under the direction of engineers or technicians.
  • Collect and record data for First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Perform inspection and testing per special test requests or engineering instructions.
  • Provide training and guidance to other Inspectors as needed.
  • Assist in data gathering, analysis, and trending to support quality improvements.
  • Support all divisional initiatives connected to QMS, EMS, and regulatory compliance.

Other Duties

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related tasks as required by management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality initiatives across the division.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of material handling experience

Required Skills

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn internal systems quickly
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, move, and handle boxes or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires regular standing, walking, bending, and material handling activities.
