The Quality Inspector reports to the Quality Supervisor and is responsible for performing in-process and outbound dimensional and visual inspections of aerospace component parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies. This role ensures products meet engineering drawings, quality specifications, and customer requirements while maintaining strict compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, and outbound inspections for aerospace components and assemblies.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Review and accept required inspection paperwork and documentation.
- Generate manual and computer-based inspection reports to accept or reject product.
- Utilize inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, surface plates, and optical comparators.
- Apply GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5.
- Execute AQL sampling per internal procedures or ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.
- Complete data processing and inventory move transactions as required.
- Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102.
- Interpret and evaluate ATPs, ATRs, job travelers, drawings, pick lists, Certificates of Conformance (C of C), and test reports.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, DFARS, and Nadcap requirements.
- Adhere to all flow-down contractual requirements for commercial and military products.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical inspection of aerospace products, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and aerospace quality standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Must meet ITAR U.S. Person requirements (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee).
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Irvine, CA (90039). Relocation is not offered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting aluminum, alloy, titanium, stainless steel and other aerospace materials.
- Experience inspecting coated aerospace products (anodizing, cadmium, chromium, nickel, zinc plating, passivation).
- ASQ certification or college coursework preferred.
- Prior experience in an FAA-regulated environment.
