Not every engineer wants to spend six months building features they'll never see customers use. Some prefer getting closer to the problem. I'm working with an early stage AI startup looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers, helping them unlock value from the platform while shaping the product along the way. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety. You'll spend time understanding customer challenges, designing solutions, building integrations, deploying features, and feeding real world insight back into the product team. If you've ever found yourself wanting more influence over what gets built (and why) you'll probably enjoy this.
What you'll be doing:
- Working directly with customers to understand requirements and solve technical challenges
- Building integrations, automations, and bespoke solutions
- Developing new product features and MVPs where needed
- Working across APIs, AI tooling, and third party systems
- Acting as the bridge between customers and engineering
- Helping shape the product through direct exposure to user problems
What you’ll need to apply:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Solid Python experience
- Comfort working across the stack (React, TypeScript, and Node.js are all useful)
- Experience building AI-enabled products, LLM applications, or automation workflows
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers
- A desire to work where you’ll have ownership, autonomy, and figuring things out
This role is based in New York with hybrid working on offer but you'll need to be comfortable spending time with customers when required. The base salary ranges from $120,000-£270,000 depending on experience. If you're the sort of engineer who enjoys solving real customer problems rather than being several layers removed from them, then hit the link in the advert to learn more.
