It’s an interesting time to be working in UX Design. While AI might not be replacing it, it’s definitely reshaping it. We’ve said hello to plenty of weird and wonderful ways to automate the execution layer (wireframes, basic research, UI production) which in turn has sped up workflows but it’s also led to less demand for purely tactical or junior roles. What we’re left with however are clients now prioritising product thinking, strategy, and problem solving when looking to add their UX teams.

If you’re someone comfortable leveraging AI rather than competing with it, are looking to work with autonomy in an environment where you’re given freedom to use your swiss army knife of a skillset and want to be part of a dedicated user centred design practice… this might be the perfect role for you.

I’m working with a London based consultancy who have a huge pipeline of work running through to the end of 2026 and beyond. Their UCD practice is around 4 years old, is led by a super inspiring director and it’s growing rapidly due to client demand.

Here’s what you’ll be doing as part of the role:

  • Turning messy user needs and business goals into simple, usable experiences
  • Designing journeys, wireframes and prototypes… then actually improving them based on real feedback
  • Working closely with product and engineering (no throwing designs over the fence here)
  • Explaining your thinking in a way that makes sense to everyone, not just other designers
  • Caring about accessibility and building things that work for real people
  • Comfortable navigating a bit of chaos… whether that’s enterprise tech, transformation, or red tape
  • Always asking “is this actually solving the problem?” rather than just making things look good

And here’s the experience they’re looking for (working in enterprise environments is a must):

  • Experience designing digital products within cross functional teams
  • Able to turn user needs and business goals into clear, practical solutions
  • Strong UX fundamentals… journeys, wireframes, prototyping, and iteration
  • Confident communicator who can clearly explain the thinking behind decisions
  • Comfortable working in complex environments (enterprise, transformation or public sector), with accessibility in mind

This is a home based role with occasional travel required into a London HQ. There’s a base salary of £60-70,000 plus bonus and benefits on offer and you’ll be working with (and learning from) some of the best people working in the UCD space.
