About the Role

The Lifeguard plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members, ensuring the highest standards of poolside safety, cleanliness and member experience. Based within the Operations Team, the role acts as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations and maintaining operational excellence. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the utmost safety of members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for personal safety and that of others.
• Act consistently in a safe manner, completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to Virgin Active's high standards.
• Take responsibility for compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts when required, taking responsibility and accountability during the shift and controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard qualification and full registration.
• Hold one of: IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF), or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF).
• A friendly, calm and approachable nature, with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
