About the Role
This role sits within the Facilities and Estates Development department and plays a pivotal part in ensuring the Club's facilities are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, well-presented and functional environment. The postholder has a particular focus on painting and decorating, preparing and painting surfaces such as woodwork, metalwork and interior walls and applying protective coatings where required. Alongside this, the role involves planned, preventative and reactive maintenance at the Training Ground, supporting colleagues, liaising with contractors and helping to develop rolling maintenance plans for function rooms. The department looks after facilities across Villa Park, Bodymoor Heath Training Ground and the Brookvale Inner City Academy, supporting day-to-day operations, matchdays and major redevelopment work across all Club sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and paint a variety of surfaces, including woodwork, metalwork and interior walls, and apply protective coatings where required.
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to keep facilities safe, well-presented and functional.
- Respond to maintenance requests and support the general upkeep of the Training Ground.
- Support colleagues with a range of maintenance activities.
- Liaise with contractors in the delivery of maintenance work.
- Help develop rolling maintenance plans for the Club's function rooms.
- Prioritise tasks effectively within a busy, fast-paced environment.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- City and Guilds Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience using hand tools.
- Experience completing general maintenance tasks and applying practical maintenance skills.
- Organised and proactive, with the confidence to assess problems, identify appropriate solutions and prioritise workload effectively.
- Comfortable working independently and using own initiative, while also being part of a wider team and supporting colleagues when required.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle in order to travel between Club sites as and when required.
- Availability and willingness to work flexible hours as the Club requires, including evenings, weekends and other events hosted by the Club.
Workplace
- Travel between the Club's sites, including Villa Park and the Brookvale Inner City Academy, is required as and when needed.
