UK Logistics Manager in Knowsley

About the Role

The role is responsible for managing and facilitating the efficient undertaking of Castore's UK logistics operations and carriage activities across e-Commerce, Retail, Wholesale and Gift of Kit. It covers a network of carriers managed directly by Castore or through a service provider, as well as the multichannel distribution centre in Knowsley. The role involves working with third-party carriers, logistics teams and head office functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective fulfilment. The position is offered on a fixed-term contract of up to 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all activities at the Knowsley distribution centre.
• Oversee all delivery interactions and customer communications for all UK customer channels, ensuring fulfilment responsibilities are met.
• Measure and drive performance to improve customer satisfaction and efficiency.
• Foster and promote links between third parties, logistics teams and head office functions.
• Ensure operational, tactical and planning activities for site operations and carrier services are undertaken.
• Ensure relationships and contractual obligations are met by all parties within the role's remit.
• Support and/or project manage the further development of the UK site, including automation and software.
• Communicate fulfilment activities regularly to internal and external customers and stakeholders, ensure issues are effectively reported and solved, and create and maintain reports on delivery activity.
• Support projects such as systems and handling solutions through analysis, solution development and implementation, drive continuous improvement to increase operational excellence with reduced costs, and recommend ways to streamline and improve working processes.
• Provide the necessary operational and tactical capacity with all UK 3PL business partners to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working within a logistics environment.
• Minimum 2 years' management experience.
• Experience in the retail, wholesale and eCommerce sectors.
• Experience with carriage and warehousing.
• Experience working with external partners.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence parties within and outside the business at all levels.
• Commercially astute, with the ability to drive appropriate decision making.
• Analytical mindset.
• Able to manage and prioritise own workload effectively, especially in a time-critical environment and under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in an autonomous environment.
• Ability to work in a silo or as part of a team.
• In-depth understanding of logistics KPIs/SLAs and the ability to ensure suppliers are hitting targets.
• Understanding of the B2C and B2B carrier market.
• Excellent knowledge of the carriage sector of eCommerce, parcel and pallet distribution.
• Knowledge of the logistics warehousing sector and previous experience dealing with third-party contractors.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in sports/fashion retail is preferred.
• Previous experience working for a 3PL or managing an in-house operation is ideal.

Workplace

• Predominantly based at the Knowsley distribution centre, with occasional travel to Castore's HQ in Manchester.
