Head of Performance Marketing

About the Role

Footballco is seeking an experienced Head of Performance Marketing to join its affiliate team. The role involves leading global campaigns across paid social, PPC, and arbitrage to attract high-intent users and drive conversions across affiliate verticals such as ticketing, streaming, VPN, and finance. The position requires daily interaction with internal teams including Affiliate, Client Services, Ad Operations, and Social, as well as external clients. The role is based in London and reports to the Affiliate VP, with no direct reports initially but with the expectation of leading a team in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Defining the strategy for scaling Footballco's paid marketing operations for the next three years.
• Ensuring best practice and optimisation are implemented correctly to achieve desired performance and, in most cases, strict targets.
• Building and implementing third-party support to scale and lead performance marketing operations globally, liaising with partners to ensure engagement and high service quality.
• Demonstrating platform expertise and developing performance marketing distribution strategies for internal teams and external clients, acting as the resident expert on performance marketing across the business.
• Managing relationships with publishers, media vendors, and social vendors to maximise the performance of existing buys and stay current with new products and features.
• Continually testing and evaluating new strategies, tactics, and partnerships to evolve and improve the product offering.
• Contributing to the development of new features and functionality for the website, apps, and family of products.
• Managing budgets to ensure channels remain within budget and hit performance KPIs.
• Being curious, flexible, and willing to get involved in general business, sitting in the affiliate team alongside content and partnership experts to develop ideas and lead performance marketing audiences.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in marketing or paid media in a relevant sector such as sports, ticketing, or betting.
• A strong track record of making things happen, challenging, and driving performance with enthusiasm and vigour.
• Expert analytics skills and strong attention to detail, with a love of data and the desire to interrogate data to find insights and deliver them to relevant teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once.
• Expert knowledge of social, search engine, and publishing platforms; advertising data; and social/digital trends, with existing relationships with major platforms.
• Experience and comfort in communicating with different audiences, tailoring messages accordingly.
• Proven experience optimising customer acquisition cost.
• Previous experience running global or multi-region campaigns.
• Strong interpersonal skills, particularly influencing and listening skills.
• Experience preparing, analysing, and presenting campaign insights to partners.
• Strong business knowledge and the ability to use creative thinking to resolve problems or roadblocks as they occur, and know when to escape.

Preferred Skills

• Experience handling the administrative side of paid content such as third-party platforms and ad servers.
• Knowledge of Google Analytics.
• Experience managing the onsite inventory of a large global publisher or website.
• Managed and maintained media distribution for a portfolio of client accounts.
