About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Operations & Delivery Manager to lead grid connection projects across utility-scale renewable energy developments, primarily Solar PV and BESS. You will take ownership of projects from design coordination through construction, commissioning, energisation and handover, working closely with DNOs, TSOs, NESO, ICPs, contractors and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead grid connection projects from 11kV–132kV, with exposure to 400kV desirable.
- Manage private, contestable and non-contestable works.
- Oversee design submissions to DNOs, TSOs and NESO.
- Lead civil and electrical construction, including substations, cabling, switchgear, transformers and protection systems.
- Manage commissioning, testing, DNO witness testing, energisation and handover.
- Lead Construction Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors across multiple sites.
- Coordinate civil and electrical works to ensure programme, budget, quality and safety targets are achieved.
- Oversee PGMD/ONCC submissions and ensure compliance with DNO standards, NERS and CDM.
- Develop and manage subcontractor networks.
- Work closely with Commercial, Procurement, HSE, Legal and Tender teams.
- Drive operational improvements and support the growth of grid delivery capabilities.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong experience in ICP, utility or electrical infrastructure delivery.
- Proven experience delivering renewable energy grid connections.
- Strong HV experience across 11kV–132kV.
- Experience managing both civil and electrical construction.
- Strong knowledge of NERS, CDM, DNO standards and adoption processes.
- Experience leading multi-site construction and project teams.
- Proven experience managing Project Managers, Site Engineers and delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of LV/MV/HV connection projects.
Desirable:
- Experience with Solar PV, BESS, wind or hybrid renewable projects.
- Experience working with EPC contractors or renewable energy developers.
- HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent project/programme management qualification.
