They are seeking a Technical Grid & Connections Specialist to support its expanding UK Renewable Energy division with their growing portfolio of utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects.
This role sits at the heart of grid compliance, design coordination, and energisation, working closely with DNOs, TSOs, ICPs, EPC contractors, and Project Managers across the full project lifecycle. Key responsibilities will include, amongst others:
- Lead and coordinate grid connection activities with DNOs, TSOs, ICPs, and National Grid
- Review and approve HV/MV/LV designs, substations, protection, metering, cabling, and earthing
- Ensure compliance with ENA G81, UK grid codes, and DNO/TSO standards
- Act as technical interface for design acceptance, adoption, and energisation
- Support procurement through technical RFQs, bid evaluations, and clarifications
- Provide technical support through construction and commissioning, including energisation readiness
- Review and validate SLDs, protection schemes, SCADA interfaces, and technical submissions
- Coordinate testing, witnessing, and commissioning with network operators
- Support Project Managers with grid connection offers, milestones, outage planning, and risk management
About You
- Electrical Engineering background (Degree qualified; Master’s advantageous)
- Proven experience working with DNOs and/or TSOs on UK grid connections
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV electrical design, protection coordination, and grid compliance
- Experience with grid studies (load flow, fault level, dynamic, harmonic analysis)
- Familiarity with SCADA/EMS integration and protection systems
- Experience delivering grid‑connected renewable or energy storage projects
- Confident technical interface with EPCs, OEMs, ICPs, and Network Operators
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
