In this role you lead the Hosting & Cloud Infrastructure Services, uniting on-premises and cloud strategies to deliver secure, resilient platforms at national scale. You will shape a new delivery organisation and foster a high-performing, inclusive culture across cross-functional teams. Your remit covers complex multi-cloud operations and significant commercial management to ensure value for money and robust public services. This is a strategic, mission-critical role within Home Office Digital that underpins safe, efficient Programme delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement integrated on-premises and cloud infrastructure strategies aligned with Home Office priorities.
  • Oversee design, deployment and operation of secure, scalable public, private and hybrid cloud services.
  • Define and build the new function, establish priorities and nurture a high-performing culture.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, delivery, service management, cyber assurance, QA, product and business management.
  • Deliver complex technology programmes across multiple cloud services while sustaining critical national infrastructure operations.
  • Manage significant commercial agreements (>£100m) and hold partners to account.
  • Own financial and workforce planning to align funding with delivery commitments and value for money.
  • Collaborate across Home Office Digital portfolios to manage dependencies, timelines and costs; embed Agile/DevOps practices.
  • Maintain governance, policies and documentation; apply emerging tech and industry best practices for continuous improvement.

Key requirements:

  • Leading an organisation of comparable scale through a transition to a service-led operating model with full lifecycle management.
  • Delivering multiple complex, high-value programmes in a relevant technology environment with appropriate delivery frameworks.
  • Leading in a complex multi-cloud environment and balancing public and private cloud priorities.
  • Building effective partnerships with senior peers, stakeholders, suppliers and commercial partners.
  • Strong financial management of major programmes, including budgeting and operating plans.
  • Leading, coaching and developing high-performing, delivery-focused teams.
  • Communicating a clear vision and securing support from technical and non-technical audiences.

Credible senior leadership, ability to motivate diverse teams, stakeholder relationship building, multi-cloud strategy and delivery, secure, resilient cloud design and operation, Agile and DevOps practices.
