Initial 6 month contract, £400pd inside IR35, hybrid (2 days per week onsite in London). We are looking for an experienced and strategic IT Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality IT services across a large Local Authority environment, supporting over 5000 users across multiple sites. This is a hands-on leadership role within the IT team, responsible for operational excellence, service improvement, supplier management and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead IT operational service delivery across the organisation
  • Manage ITSM processes including Incident, Change & Problem Management
  • Oversee endpoint management, asset lifecycle & device provisioning
  • Ensure security patching, vulnerability management & operational resilience
  • Manage IT contracts, vendors, SLAs & procurement activities
  • Lead IT infrastructure improvements and disaster recovery planning
  • Deliver service reporting, KPI monitoring & continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage and develop IT operational teams and resources
  • Act as SME on IT projects from scoping through implementation

Key Requirements:

  • ITIL Practitioner/Expert or equivalent IT qualification
  • Strong experience managing ICT Operations in a Local Authority (preferred) or Public Sector organisation (essential)
  • Excellent knowledge of infrastructure, endpoint management & IT security
  • Proven leadership, stakeholder management & supplier management skills
  • Experience driving ITIL-based service improvement initiatives
